Gatsby Essay

When I had first heard about us reading “The Great Gatsby “ , I wasn’t to thrilled because I have heard from other classmates that it wasn’t interesting & I had others saying it was a good book so I was kind of iffy about it. Though , when I began to read it I couldn’t help but think about how it was similar how our society or how Americans are today & how they’re willing to do whatever it takes to get what they wanna do and do our best to succeed to what we put our mind to & well for Gatbsy , he reminded me of how the American culture is today , and always has been. He was willing to do whatever he wanted to get what he wanted and where he needed to be.

In the story , Gatsby had the mindset of how he could get whatever he wanted through his money & thought it was going to get him what he needed. Majority of the time , Americans do think that just because they have a lot of money or money in general it is going to solve their problems in their life , when realistically it can but it’s just another easy way out of it. I do think , money can change change a lot but money is just always gonna be money. Money , isn’t always gonna get you anywhere in life. There will be times in life where things are gonna get hard & complicated and money isn’t going to help you in that kind of situation. Money isn’t the key to everything is what I’m trying to say , yes it’s nice to have & yes it can do a lot but it won’t solve all your problems. Gatsby , always thought that with his wealth that he could get Daisy back easily. Until , sooner or later he ended up getting hurt and getting trapped & stuck with her mixed emotions. Daisy , knew she didn’t want to be with him again & especially didn’t love him anymore. Therefore, with everything she put Gatsby  through his life was taken & the consequence of everything he did for her. Right there , showed that Money can’t get you everything you want. Money cant give him or anyone love.

In today’s society you can see in a lot of different examples that just because you’re wealthy it can possibly get you what you want but not always. For example, life isn’t perfect there will always be some type of problem or struggle & sometimes it gets harder on how bad you want something but that is why people say, “all that hard work” was worth it. In the story, it was shown how Gatsby’s friends or people he knew would often just use him for his wealth & I thought that was really sad & low of people to do. Not in just in that book it happens but It even happens in the real life. Not even with just wealth , it happens with popularity as well. People often use one and other to get what they want & that’s what was shown multiple times in the book.

Daisy wads a bad person from the beginning , she was toying Gatsby’s feelings for some unknown reason. Not only that but she was that kind of person who would create drama and would often have someone else clean up her mess or put blame on somebody else. Therefore Daisy didn’t really care about anyone else but herself majority of the time.

Therefore , “The Great Gatsby" does have a way it reflects on American's dreams and society. It showed  how we Americans can be selfish and wreck less and how we try or others to get what we want & willing to do anything to get there. Not only that but it also showed how majority of us or we people think that money could solve all our problems or how important it is in life when really it isn’t
